Currencies Across the Seas presents Wuxi Museum's collection of historic metal money in six sections. It follows the development of Chinese currency from early cowrie-shaped money, spade and knife coins through the standardized Qin banliang and later monetary systems, using copper, iron, silver and lead objects to connect political change with everyday exchange.
The exhibition runs from 1 October 2026 to 3 January 2027 in the west wing's second-floor gallery. General museum admission is free. The official page does not identify a separate charge for this exhibition, but visitors should confirm current access arrangements before travelling.
